Small repairs while you wait

Sliders, studs, rivets, eyelets, screws and glue — the five-minute jobs.

Marc and Robert talking across the counter half an hour before closing
Marc and Robert talking across the counter half an hour before closing

A lot of what comes through the door isn't a repair at all, it's a fix. A slider replaced, a rivet set, an eyelet swapped for something stronger, a loose logo screwed back down, a clog glued.

These are done at the counter, and the running theme in the reviews is that Robert frequently won't charge for them: a backpack zip fixed in three minutes and waved off, a pair of ripped rubber clogs glued for free alongside a paid job, a pair of sunglasses missing a screw handed back without a bill.

What the job covers

  • Zip sliders replaced
  • Rivets, studs and eyelets set
  • Loose logos and hardware re-fixed
  • Soles and clogs re-glued
  • Laces, insoles and heel grips fitted
  • Screws and small fittings, including on glasses

Bring it in if…

  • Something has come loose and you're passing by
  • One small part has failed on an otherwise fine item
  • You want to know whether it's worth a real repair

Great staff, great ambiance, very nice people. They fixed my boyfriend's sunglasses that lost a screw without charging us.

Robert was able to repair a broken guitar case handle for me on a vintage Gibson Dove case. Really nice work and super quick turnaround for a lot less than I thought I would spend in LA.

Took my husband's belt to get repaired and they fixed it on the spot! Great job and excellent service. My first time there and I will be back!

I came in less than 30 minutes before closing time, and Robert repaired the concealed double zipper on my favorite backpack right in front of me. The zipper was having two different problems — one slider had gone off the track entirely, and the other was immediately coming undone if I didn't zip it very slowly. He fixed both in about three minutes, and then wouldn't take payment! He just said to come back for a zipper replacement if I had the same problem again. It was the best and kindest service I have received anywhere in years.

Robert is easily the best cobbler I've been to in LA. I dropped off three pairs of shoes with complicated toe shapes to be re-soled. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was incredible. I cannot believe how perfect each shoe was when I picked them up. As a bonus, Robert even glued a pair of rubber clogs that had ripped on the spot for free. They are kind, do quality work, and good turnaround times. Cannot recommend more.

Robert's Shoe Repair does excellent work that the business will back up, and it is a friendly place run by a competent professional who knows his craft. I recently went back for a repair on an eyelet, and had it replaced with a rivet. It's clearly better work than the original part had. I've had a number of repairs done here to both dress and casual shoes and it's always been great work, friendly service, and surprisingly affordable.
