Cleaned properly, fed, and sealed — the maintenance that stops the expensive repairs.
Most leather that looks finished is just dirty and dry. Cleaning lifts the salt, grime and old product out of the grain; conditioning puts the oils back so the leather flexes instead of cracking at the vamp.
It is the cheapest insurance on a good pair. A customer brought in scuffed leather boots that were 'well conditioned' along with a dye job, and Robert's own shelves are stocked with the creams and conditioners to do it.
